UCAM is the only university in Spain working with the American biotech company
Using this equipment, research which will enable innovation in different therapies will be conducted. Among application fields we can find sports medicine, radiotherapy oncology, neuroscience, respiratory insufficiency, musculoskeletal pathology, wound healing and pain.
The event, organised by D'Genes and UCAM, will be followed online as of today and until Friday by more than 20 countries, especially countries from Latin America. Carolina Darias, Minister of Health, has spoken at the inauguration of the event.
The research sessions of 'SMARTLAGOON', an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project led by the Universidad Católica de Murcia, kicked off at the UCAM HiTech Sport and Health Innovation Hub this morning.
At the event, Manuel Navarro, responsible for Acciona’s Water Cycle, gave a speech in which he stressed that “in Murcia we have learned to use water properly with very high levels of efficiency” and advocated desalination plants as a complement to irrigation
The recipients of the awards are Javier Bernal, for the best academic record of the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Begoña Alburquerque, Carmen Lucas and Rebeca González, for their researches on the treatment of colorectal cancer and male baldness
Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollo (CYD) highlights other important indicators of UCAM, such as its ability to attract students from all over Spain and from abroad, since it is the eight university of the country in terms of private fund raising for research
The findings on cellular communication hold promise for early human development, disease progression and aging, as well as organ transplantation and for testing therapeutics
UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia is also one of the few universities in Spain to have a female Chancellor, Josefina García Lozano, and many of its bachelor’s degree and postgraduate courses, chairs and services are headed by women.
