Mission

The John Paul II International Institute of Charity and Volunteerism (IICV) is a university institution dependent on the San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM), sponsored by the Pontifical Council "COR UNUM for the human and Christian promotion" of the Holy See and collaborating with other organizations to achieve its objectives. The Institute, from a Christian inspiration, carries out its mission in dialogue with the social sciences, offering individuals, associations, organizations, and society in general guidelines in the field of social assistance.

Functions

  •  Teaching:

To promote human and Christian development, the Institute trains professionals with an integral and interdisciplinary profile in the understanding of the person, his needs, his actions and the social context where he lives. To this end, the Institute offers various training courses, among which we highlight the Master's Degree in Social Development with access to a Doctorate (online).

  •  Research:

In this area, the Institute deepens the theory and practice of social assistance and analyses concrete situations of need and suffering in the light of the Gospel, of faith and of the rich traditions and knowledge of the Church in the accompaniment of people. In today's context, voluntary social service organizations represent a phenomenon that seeks to respond to social needs. The Institute analyses this phenomenon, its conditions, tasks, motivations, frameworks for action and its inspirations. Along with its own lines of research, and as a support to research work, the Institute advises on research work related to its area of knowledge.

  •  Social awareness and support to welfare and volunteer organizations:

The Volunteer Service collaborates with other social entities and implements academic and social initiatives related to welfare and volunteer work. In this regard, we highlight the organization of the International Conference on Charity and Volunteering.
