The Regional Minister of Enterprise, Employment and Social Economy, Marisa López, has met with the UCAM President, María Dolores García, to discuss the strategic projects promoted by the university in the field of training and entrepreneurship. Afterwards, the Minister visited the UCAM HiTech facilities, a hub for technological innovation and business acceleration, consolidated as a driving force for science-based entrepreneurship in the Region of Murcia.

The meeting was attended by Joaquín Gómez, director of the Regional Development Institute (INFO); Carlos Caballero, director of UCAM HiTech; José Luis Mendoza García, general director of Institutional Relations at UCAM, and Francisco de Asís Mendoza, academic secretary of the Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.

The visit continued with a tour of the Food Processing Pilot Plant at the Los Jerónimos Campus. The councillor has seen the capabilities that this facility offers for the experimentation and development of small-scale food products, prior to their production at an industrial level, first-hand. José María Cayuela, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, explained the projects currently being carried out and the specialised training offered to students to the councillor.

The tour ended at UCAM HiTech, where the councillor checked out the projects being developed in this high-tech incubator, which specialises in health, sports and food. Her visit coincided with the 'Al in Medical Devices and IVD products' conference with Carmen Martín, CEO & Founder and principal consultant at CMG MEDDEV. This is an example of the non-stop activity that takes place at this facility every day. Carlos Caballero, director of the centre, stressed the importance of public-private collaboration to transform knowledge into social and economic value. The visit reaffirms the commitment of UCAM and the regional government to continue working together on initiatives that promote employment and innovation, fostering an environment of economic and social growth for the Region of Murcia.
