Chinese students receive training in Spanish language and culture at UCAM
Thanks to an intensive programme, English Language and Literature students from Chongqing University are beginning their immersion in the Spanish language at the UCAM Los Jerónimos Campus, while also discovering the historical heritage of Murcia and Cartagena.
UCAM has welcomed a group of English Language and Literature students from Chongqing University (China). They will participate in the '2026 Winter Programme', an intensive Spanish language and culture course organised by the UCAM Language School. Over the course of two weeks, participants will combine academic Spanish language training with a comprehensive cultural programme designed to introduce them to the main historical landmarks of the Region of Murcia.
The course, which takes place on the Los Jerónimos Campus, offers fifty hours of Spanish teaching, complemented by guided visits to the cities of Murcia and Cartagena, where students can learn about their history, gastronomy and traditions.
Carolina Padilla, coordinator of the Spanish language courses at the UCAM Language School, has underlined the consolidation of this initiative: ‘We have been running this programme for several years now. It is a comprehensive experience that allows students to take their first steps in our language and in everyday life in Spain.’
She also underlined the personal and academic impact these stays have on participants, noting that many of them are hosted by families from Murcia, which greatly facilitates their integration and learning through a more immersive and authentic experience.
The Winter Programme is part of UCAM's international strategy to promote the teaching of Spanish as well as academic cooperation with foreign universities, especially in Asia, thus reinforcing its role as a benchmark institution for the promotion of Spanish language and culture in the university setting.
