The Universidad Católica de Murcia and the Spanish Olympic Committee, with the cooperation of Shorai –a leading second career project, are launching a pioneering initiative to serve as a meeting point between the world of sports and entrepreneurship.
The heads of UCAM and the Spanish Olympic Committee, María Dolores García and Alejandro Blanco, presided over the UCAM Sports Gala in the Temple of Los Jerónimos, which was packed with over 800 athletes, including world champions and Olympic and Paralympic medallists, as well as representatives of the grassroot teams, after a successful season. The next big goal for many of them: the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Ratified by the Provincial Minister for Education, Tourism, Culture and Mass Media of Shandong, UCAM and the University of Sports of this Chinese province populated by 102 millions of citizens, have signed a cooperation agreement that has been endorsed by the Spanish Olympic Committee and the president of the Autonomous Community of Murcia. This agreement has also allowed both regional governments to consider other agreements in the fields of tourism, agriculture and technology.
Today, Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), accompanied by José Luis Mendoza, president of UCAM, and various athletes of this University, including newly incorporated Ona Carbonell, was the protagonist of the Europa Press Informative Breakfast
The video of the campaign, led by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and UCAM, reached 17 million visualisations and it is about to reach 4 million complete reproductions on YouTube and Facebook
Institutions from seven countries participate in ‘Paralimits’ to adapt the model that UCAM and the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) developed for elite athletes with special needs, thus promoting their social integration and their inclusion in the labour market once they end their sports career.
The presidents of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, and of UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, accompanied by the Olympic medallists Lydia Valentín and Saúl Craviotto, presented the video of the campaign “Por una España con valores” (For a Spain with values). The event was also attended by the Secretary General of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Victoria Cabezas, the Vice President, Francisco Blázquez, and twelve other athletes: Fernando Carro, Sandra Sánchez, Francisco Cubelos, David Cal, Damián Quintero, Niko Shera, Miguel Ángel López, Cristian Toro, Eva Calvo, María Pérez, Artemi Gavezou and Pablo Abián
