The Catholic University of Murcia, through its Higher Language School, will train in English the instructors of the Air Base of Alcantarilla. This was established in the agreement signed by both parties and made public by Francisco Javier Fernández, colonel of the Air base of Alcantarilla and Director of the Méndez Parada Military School of Parachuting, together with the vice-chancellor for International Relations and Communication of the academic institution, Pablo Blesa. “For us, this is a more than necessary initiative, since we always encounter areas that have to do with aspects of NATO, where the fundamental working language is English”, explained colonel Fernández. He highlighted as well that UCAM was selected as a partner because it was the offer that best fitted the needs of the Air Base.

“Our coordination work with different planes and control agencies is always based on English, which is the international language of aviation and it is necessary that we continue training to improve in this field”, explained Jorge Mora, pilot of the Air Base and student of the course. For his part, Pablo Blesa, vice-chancellor for International Relations and Communication of the Catholic University of Murcia, pointed out that the aim is for students to pass the official ‘Trinity’ English exam which will qualify them to carry out international missions.
