UCAM, led by its president, María Dolores García, has once again participated in the solemn procession of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, celebrated on Holy Tuesday in the city of Murcia. Departing from the parish church of San Juan de Dios, the procession advanced amidst the fervour of the faithful who, in large numbers, gathered to witness this procession that is rooted in the 16th-century tradition of hospitality.

The statue, considered the oldest of Murcia's Holy Week and dated between the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th century, was restored in 2014 thanks to the efforts of the UCAM founder, José Luis Mendoza, thus underlining the historical and spiritual link between the University and this emblematic dedication.

UCAM, in a manifestation of commitment and faith, was represented by numerous students and workers who accompanied the thrones, wearing the stoles of their respective degrees: Medicine, Law, Nursing, Psychology, Education, Journalism, among others. This gesture provided a distinctive stamp that enhances the role of the academic community in city life.

The UCAM president, María Dolores García, led the institutional representation, reaffirming the firm bond that unites the UCAM with the Pontificia, Real, Hospitalaria y Primitiva Asociación del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud (Pontifical, Royal, Hospitaller and Primitive Association of the Holy Christ of Health).

One of the most moving moments took place on the Cardenal Belluga square, where the float of the Cristo de la Salud -in front of the baroque façade of the Cathedral of Murcia- in an atmosphere of recollection, silence and dim light, encouraged reflection and prayer. The spring night accompanied this scene of deep spirituality, experienced with intensity by thousands of attendees.

With this participation, UCAM reinforces its commitment to Murcian traditions, integrating the experience of faith with academic life and actively contributing to keeping alive the cultural and religious heritage of the Region.
