The Directorate General for Social Services and Relations with the Third

Sector and International Cooperation of the Autonomous Community of

the Region of Murcia has made the Volunteering Awards 2022 public. The

directorate general has recognised the impact of the UCAM corporate social

responsibility in the development of actions, projects or programmes in the

field of social action, through the International Institute of Charity and

Volunteering. The painter Álvaro Peña, the food bank Banco de Alimentos

del Segura, the Red Cross and AJE Región de Murcia also received awards. 

In addition to the volunteer work that the Universidad Católica de Murcia

undertakes all year long supporting national and international NGOs, it also

cooperates in special circumstances, such as the help given to the victims of

the storm that affected the towns of Javalí Viejo and La Ñora, the health

care service offered in Uganda – which allowed the equipping of a clinic and

an ambulance, free health care and training for local staff –, the recent

creation of the UCAM for Peace platform due to the war in Ukraine, etc. In

addition, the institution organises the International Volunteering Exhibition

in Murcia and Cartagena every year, in which around one hundred social

organisations take part.
