UCAM Murcia CB makes history in the Endesa League winning in the semi-finals against the regular league champions, Unicaja, in a fifth home game that has been a true back-and-forth battle in which Sito Alonso's men prevailed playing much better in the final minutes (70-79). Everything seemed to be against UCAM in this playoff. Unicaja had beaten them in the four previous games this season (Super Cup, BCL Final Four and the two regular league games) and was the clear favourite before the playoffs, but the Murcia players have shown a huge competitive spirit this year by forcing the playoffs to the fifth game.

Having lost the advantage of the first two games won in Málaga, UCAM Murcia took to the green court with nothing to lose and plenty to gain. The gates of history were there and simply had to be crossed. Hostility took its toll on the start of the game and Unicaja opened a gap with a 10-0 run and a colossal first quarter that triggered alarm bells on the Murcian bench. But this time UCAM reacted and thanks to a great defence managed to tighten up the game, taking it to half-time with a very tight score (32-31).

With Troy Caupain and Dylan Ennis at the helm, UCAM Murcia played a great third quarter and went into the final stretch with a slight lead (52-55). Unicaja was only hurting UCAM on rebounds where they found the formula to get second chances and stay in the game. But the real problems came at the start of the final quarter when Unicaja took advantage of several mistakes by the visitoing team to take an eight-point lead (63-55). Right at the turning point came a three-pointer from Hakanson and several deserving actions on the part of UCAM to bring the game back to level terms. In the last five minutes, the game turned again, the Málaga side began missing shots that they had previously made with ease, and UCAM, now closing down the rebound, forged a decisive and unattainable lead with coolness and accuracy.
