UCAM hosts tech entrepreneurs at the 'Google DevFest Murcia'
Nearly 900 young people took part at an event that connected training, technology and the job market, at which UCAM HiTech was present with startups from its ecosystem
How do you go from learning technology to creating with it? This was the underlying question of the Google Dev Fest held at the Murcia Campus of the Universidad Católica San Antonio, which brought together nearly 900 young people at a practical and dynamic event where innovation, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship were discussed through real-life cases, experiences and references of the professional world capable of opening paths towards employability.
Organised by the Google for Devs communities in the Region of Murcia, the meeting brought together university, high school and secondary school students, developers and professionals from the tech sector. The coordinator of the Google for Devs communities in the Region of Murcia, Irene Ruiz Pozo, highlighted the cross-cutting nature of the event: ‘Technology is a tool for generating real impact in areas such as education, health and marketing, and these meetings allow us to offer young people accessible, high-level references’.
Among the speakers, Antonio Jara, Libelium's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), focused his speech on digital twins as a tool for smart city planning. Pau Guardiola, director of Emerging Technologies at UCAM, addressed the process of converting ideas into real technological solutions, showing how artificial intelligence, robotics and the development of applications make it possible to go from concept to functional product in ever shorter times.

Lucía Aguado, founder of Saiyan Workout and a benchmark in the field of digital entrepreneurship in the health and fitness sector, shared her experience in the creation and positioning of a digital product in a highly competitive market. Cristina Jover, founder of the agency Weekend, focused her presentation on the importance of differentiation and communication in an environment saturated with messages.
In addition, the Google Dev Fest offered space to initiatives led by students and young talents, who have shared the stage with established professionals, demonstrating the potential of the new generations and the importance of creating environments where they can present projects with social and technological impact from an early age.
In this context, UCAM HiTech, the UCAM innovation and acceleration hub of the, which is part of the Incyde Foundation Network of High Technology Incubators, has participated by showing its role as an active agent in the promotion of entrepreneurship and the connection between the university and the technological ecosystem. It also participated in the exhibition area together with three start-ups from its ecosystem, giving visibility to technological solutions in areas such as advanced sleep analysis, the manufacture of customised prostheses using 3D printing and digital applications for spinal column assessment, highlighting the potential of knowledge transfer to the market.
