UCAM Cartagena commences its Nursing and Medicine classes with 670 students from nine different nationalities
Having arrived at UCAM from countries such as France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Sweden, as well as 14 autonomous communities in Spain, students in the more advanced courses will carry out their practical training in 26 social and healthcare centres in the Region of Murcia.
The UCAM Cartagena Campus has come back to life with the beginning of the Bachelor's Degree programmes in Nursing and Medicine, with a total of 670 students from more than a dozen autonomous communities and nine different nationalities, reflecting the national and international dimension of the programmes.
The Bachelor's Degree in Nursing has 480 students spread across the second, third and fourth years. Among them are international students from Italy, Romania, Ukraine and Sweden. The students who will complete their studies this year are the ninth graduating class, consolidating a successful track record after eight previous graduating classes. Practical training takes on a special role in the fourth year, when students rotate between six hospitals and clinics, eight health centres and twelve other facilities, including nursing homes, doctors' offices and outpatient clinics, to apply their knowledge in real healthcare settings.
In Medicine, there are 189 students enrolled in the second to fifth years. The senior class will be the first to graduate in Cartagena in 2026, marking a historic milestone for the university. In this case, the international students come from Peru, Colombia, France, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria, reinforcing the global nature of this programme. Their clinical placements are mainly carried out in the hospitals of Santa Lucía, Santa María del Rosell and Virgen de la Caridad, offering direct experience in patient care and medical procedures, reinforcing practical training and preparation for professional practice in different fields of medicine.
The last to join will be the first-year students, who will soon celebrate their presentation day, where they will meet their teachers and peers and receive all the information they need to officially begin their studies.
