María Dolores García, UCAM President, and Santos Martín-Caro, CEO of the footwear brand Pablosky, have signed an agreement at the Los Jerónimos Campus to launch the Chair in Paediatric Foot Health. This is a pioneering project that will advance knowledge, prevention and treatment of podiatric pathologies in children, improving their quality of life. The aim is to disseminate, research and innovate on child foot health and provide resources for families and health professionals to learn about healthy habits related to foot care in children.

The Chair will work to generate a change in the way we understand the development of children's feet, highlighting the importance of the use of healthy footwear at each stage of their growth. From a comprehensive approach, research and knowledge transfer will be combined with the aim of improving children's well-being and preventing podiatric health problems from an early age. The Chair will also provide educational tools and practical resources to support the optimal development of children's feet, both in academia and in the footwear industry.

The aim of the Chair is to become an observatory and innovation hub, addressing current challenges in terms of the suitability of footwear, the biomechanics of the foot in different periods of growth and the comfort and biomechanics of healthy footwear.
The Chair is directed by Gabriel Gijón, Professor of Podiatry at the University of Málaga and member of the Research Group of New Technologies for Health at UCAM, together with Manuel Pardo, Vice-Dean of the UCAM Bachelor's Degree in Podiatry. The scientific committee is headed by José Manuel Castillo, Director of the Clinical Podiatry Area of the University of Seville and promoter of the Sebior & Pablosky Children's Footwear Commission.
