On 17th of December 2024, Fundación Universitaria San Antonio (which includes UCAM) signed a collaboration agreement with the Asociación de Familiares de Niños con Cáncer de la Región de Murcia (AFACMUR, Association of Families of Children with Cancer of the Region of Murcia) and the Asociación Pediatría Solidaria (Solidarity Paediatrics Association) with the aim of facilitating leisure experiences that promote the emotional wellbeing of children with cancer in palliative care and complex chronic illnesses. The agreement was signed by María Dolores GarcíaFrancisco Palazón and José Ángel Guardiola Olmos, presidents of the aforementioned institutions.

This collaboration will allow these children, their families and care teams to attend sporting events organised by UCAM clubs free of charge; like UCAM CB (Basketball Club) and UCAM CF (Football Club) games, or other recreational experiences that may be of interest to them, according to the criteria of AFACMUR and Pediatría Solidaria. Most importantly, however, the necessary conditions will be provided so that they can enjoy these experiences in the utmost comfort and safety.

UCAM President, María Dolores García, highlighted the commitment of the institution to supporting the most vulnerable, ‘contributing with this agreement to create moments of happiness for these minors and their families, offering them enriching experiences that improve their emotional wellbeing’. For their part, both associations have stressed that these initiatives will benefit the emotional state of the children and will allow them to enjoy moments of distraction and joy.
