María Pérez, an incredible flag bearer to bid farewell to Paris 2024.
The race walker from Granada and student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education had the honour of carrying the Spanish’s flag together with Jordan Díaz in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games.
The Olympic flame fades, the athletes return to their countries and Paris 2024 bids farewell, leaving behind a legacy of wonderful Olympic Games in which the sport has conquered the hearts of the whole world for two weeks. In the Spanish team, with 64 athletes and a coach associated with the Universidad Católica de Murcia, there were mixed feelings of overwhelming joy for those who achieved their goals and the disappointment for those who couldn’t achieve the glory they were seeking. However, all of them are proud of participating in the most important sport competition in the whole world and for giving it their all.
Maria Pérez, gold medallist in the mixed relay race-walking and silver medallist in the individual competition, will never forget these Games and has made history in her own right. Thanks to this excellent result and her extraordinary career in which her double world and European gold medals stand out, the Spanish Olympic Committee appointed her as the Spanish flag bearer for the closing ceremony of Paris 2024, together with the athlete Jordan Díaz, Olympic winner of triple jump.
The race walker from Granada and student of the Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education at the Universidad Católica de Murcia carried the flag representing the Spanish team, which closed these games with 18 medals: 5 gold medals, 40 silver medals and 9 bronze medals.
