“UCAM is one of the Spanish universities with the largest selection of degrees in English. It already offers 15 of them and it is working to obtain the authorisation for three more. These degrees account for many students from 102 countries. The president of UCAM has decided to create the International Academic Committee so that this extended global family of UCAM can always feel it is taken care of, integrated and listened to with closeness and respect”. With these words, Pablo Blesa, vice-chancellor for International Relations and Communication, summarises the new step taken by UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia in its path towards internationalisation.

The Assembly Hall welcomed, in blended mode, a work meeting of the governing body of the new committee with the representatives and substitute representatives of the degrees that are taught in English. Manuel Carlos Ruiz, vice-chancellor for Quality and Academic Organisation and Marco Bruno, director of International Development, participated together with Pablo Blesa in the session. During the session, the first lines of work and the commitment of UCAM to keep growing in its processes of internal improvement so that the experience of the international students can be as positive as possible were discussed.

The students had the possibility to share their concerns with the persons in charge of the committee, underlying some aspects such as teaching, internships, Spanish study, international mobility opportunities, the evolution of the pandemic and the measures adopted by UCAM, as well as their integration in the university community and in the Region of Murcia.

This commission will hold meetings with deans and vice-deans at the beginning of each term, and monthly follow-up work sessions with the coordinators of the programmes and specific work commissions.
