The Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia has appointed Aldo Martínez, better known as Doctor Aldo, as the institution's new ambassador. The prestigious physical trainer, director of Sports Performance of Ilia Topuria, current UFC featherweight world champion, has sealed this agreement in a ceremony held at the Los Jerónimos Campus.

The signing of the appointment was attended by José Luis Mendoza García, General Director of Institutional Relations of the UCAM, and Juan Pablo Mendoza, Creative Director of the University. Martínez has done much of his training at UCAM, where he graduated in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences in 2004, in Primary Education in 2012 and obtained his doctorate with an outstanding Cum Laude qualification in 2015. Subsequently, he completed the University Master's Degree in High Performance Sport: Strength and Conditioning in 2018. He is currently combining his professional career with his studies in medicine.

Juan Pablo Mendoza underlined the importance of having ambassadors who represent the values of UCAM in the professional and sporting spheres. ‘The figure of Aldo was a commitment that we had had clear for some time, because of his discipline and the rigour with which he works both in the field of sport and in education,’ he stated.

For his part, Aldo Martínez has expressed his pride in taking on this role within the University that has accompanied him in his academic and professional growth. ‘For me it is always a pleasure to be here at UCAM and to join the cause of sharing all the knowledge I have of high performance, health and wellness,’ he said.

The new UCAM ambassador has been a lecturer at the University and continues to use its facilities to carry out tests and measurements on elite athletes, including Ilia Topuria and footballer Raúl Albiol, at the Centre for Research in High Performance in Sport (CIARD).

The agreement with UCAM will allow for the development of high quality joint content as well as the organisation of events with students, giving them the opportunity to learn about the experience of a successful professional first hand. Martinez will also continue his studies in medicine at the University next year.

This appointment reinforces UCAM's commitment to excellence in sports and academia, consolidating its position as a benchmark in the comprehensive training of sports professionals.
