The World Strength and Conditioning Society holds its congress at UCAM
Internationally renowned professionals and researchers will take part in October in this meeting, where awards will be presented to the best physical trainers in the world
Together with UCAM, the international association Strength and Conditioning Society (SCS), is organising the Congress 'Strength and Physical Conditioning: An essential tool for improving performance, preventing injuries and illnesses at different stages of life'. This meeting, which will be held from 9 to 11 October at the UCAM Murcia Campus, will cover topics such as the development of young athletes, injury prevention in high performance, alternative training strategies for different illnesses, personalised recovery treatments, the effects of training at altitude and the transition from injury to RTP from a physiotherapy point of view.
This meeting, which is its seventh edition after visiting Rome (where it was founded), Madrid, Oporto, Sao Paulo and Athens, will be attended by professionals from dozens of countries, such as China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Israel, Chile, the United States, Canada and Spain. Among the speakers, all of whom are internationally renowned, are Irina Zelenkova, doctor of Olympic athletes; Íñigo Mujika, advisor to the High Performance Centre of Japan; Glenn Castro, nutrition manager of the UFC, and José María Villalón, head of the Medical Services of Atlético de Madrid.
One of the main attractions of the congress will be the workshops, where some of the most prominent speakers will offer the latest developments in training, conditioning and recovery methods. In addition, the awards ceremony for the best physical trainers in the world will be held.
UCAM is actively participating in this congress. UCAM researchers, academics and professionals are internationally renowned for their work at the UCAM Research Centre for High Performance Sport (CIARD) and for the high-quality teaching provided in the postgraduate courses of UCAM, the Spanish Sport University.
The SCS is an international non-profit association dedicated to promoting scientific research in the field of strength and conditioning. Through its multidisciplinary team of professionals in the field of Sports Science, the SCS aims to examine strength training and physical conditioning from a multifaceted perspective, including all physiological, biomechanical, psychological and epidemiological aspects.
