UCAM President receives the Women Leaders and Technology 4.0 award at WiTEC 2025

‘For leading organisations that promote technological development in their fields of action as generational and educational advances to ensure professionals in this field’ was the reason why María Dolores García, President of Universidad Católica de Murcia, received the Women Leaders and Technology 4. 0 award this morning. The award ceremony took place during the RM Women and Technology Conference WiTEC 2025, held today at the headquarters of the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of Murcia and organised by Marevents Mujer.
The awards, which closed the round tables and presentations, recognise companies, projects and women leaders in the Technology 4.0 sector. Alfonso Hernández, President of FREMM, presented the award to María Dolores García, highlighting her drive for the Digital Transformation Plan, ‘which has made UCAM a national benchmark in educational innovation, technological equipment and advanced training. He cited the creation of pioneering facilities ‘such as an advanced clinical simulation centre, a Drone Hub with a vertiport and training classroom, and an Immersive Classroom’ as examples, defining UCAM as ‘a benchmark for all of us who are dedicated to training’.
‘We are also very mindful of ethical principles, ensuring that technology truly serves humanity and enables real progress’.
The UCAM President, who collected the award accompanied by Samuel Mendoza, Director General of UCAM Infrastructure and Digital Transformation, stressed that ‘we are fully aware that we cannot use tools from the past to educate the future leaders of the 21st century’—adding that ‘ as a Catholic university, we are also very mindful of ethical principles, ensuring that technology truly serves humanity and enables real progress’.
Technological entrepreneurship
Among the presentations prior to the awards ceremony was UCAM HiTech Success Stories. Technological Start-ups 4.0, in which Mayte Marín, CEO of BRAVA kombucha, a company incubated at the UCAM Hub, recounted her experience as an inspiration for female entrepreneurship, accompanied by Juan Martínez, strategic consultant at UCAM HiTech and expert in start-ups, artificial intelligence and technology.
