María Dolores García, UCAM president, welcomed Colonel Jesús Arribas, chief of the Civil Guard in the Region of Murcia; Ignacio del Olmo, senior chief of the National Police in the Region, and José María Mainar, general chief inspector of the Local Police of Murcia, at the Los Jerónimos Campus. The meeting was also attended by José María Caballero, vice-dean of the Bachelor's Degree in Criminology at the Universidad Católica; Milagros López, academic secretary of said studies; and Isabel Mendoza, head of Legal Services at UCAM.

The goal of this meeting was to continue with the close cooperation UCAM has maintained with the Law enforcement agencies for years. Said cooperation has been in different areas, such as training and research, as well as the implementation of new initiatives. In this sense, it was highlighted that members of the Civil Guard, the National Police and the Local Police from all over Spain have special conditions for their enrolment in the undergraduate and postgraduate studies offered by the Universidad Católica de Murcia; specifically, a 10% discount on the enrolment fee for the studies they wish to take, both for themselves and their first-degree descendants.

José María Caballero emphasised that this meeting, represents ‘a consolidation of the agreement promoted by our founder, José Luis Mendoza,’ highlighting that, as a result of these agreements ‘our Criminology students are doing internships in the Police and Civil Guard laboratories, where they are gaining first-hand experience of the knowledge they have acquired in our classrooms.’

Along the same lines, the heads of the three law enforcement agencies expressed their appreciation of the excellent relationship with UCAM, and the added value for the members of these forces when receiving undergraduate and postgraduate training’, especially highlighting those which can be carried out online. They also stressed that officers must continually update their knowledge and that the Universidad Católica makes it easier for them to do so.

Many members of these agencies have been trained at UCAM, in degrees such as Criminology, Law, Security Sciences, Communication and Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, among others. They have also cooperated by providing training to students of different University degrees, as well as in volunteer work and their participation in congresses and seminars.
