UCAM Español Institute successfully holds its cultural event in Dubai
The centre, the only one accredited by the Instituto Cervantes in the Gulf region, brought together more than 200 people at its ‘El español nos une’ (Spanish unites us) initiative on a day dedicated to the Hispanic world
UCAM Español Institute organised the cultural event 'El Español nos Une - Un viaje por el mundo hispano’ in Dubai, an event that brought together more than 200 people, including 90 children, with the aim of highlighting the cultural, linguistic and social richness of Spanish-speaking countries, as well as strengthening ties between the Hispanic community living in the United Arab Emirates.
The day was attended by institutional representatives, including Cecilia Cañas Gallart, Technical Advisor for Education at the Spanish Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. During the event, families enjoyed a cultural tour through stands dedicated to different Spanish-speaking countries, with traditional games and fun and educational activities for children, who participated in the dynamics of the 'cultural passport', receiving stamps at each stand and a gift for completing the tour. The day ended with a raffle among the attendees in which a Spanish course for native children and an Arabic course for Spanish-speaking adults were raffled, as well as exclusive products from the centre, thus consolidating the family, inclusive and educational nature of the event.
New educational offer for native children
The director of UCAM Español Institute, Alberto Fernández, highlighted that ‘this event has been a unique opportunity to show the richness and diversity of the Hispanic world, and to continue consolidating our position as the reference centre for Spanish in the Emirates’.
Following on from the success of this activity, UCAM Español Institute will be offering its new Spanish courses aimed at native Spanish-speaking children, starting on 22 September. The weekend classes will be held on the premises of the Arbor School in Dubai, with a pedagogical approach that combines language reinforcement, reading and writing skills development, as well as cultural connection to the students' Hispanic roots.
