UCAM celebrates the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth
The conference, organised by the Bachelor’s Degree in Preprimary and Primary Education, involved the UCAM Dance Company and the Music Conservatory of Murcia
“Nowadays, culture is shown as a balm against uncertainty”, this phrase from Sonia María Martínez Castro, vice-dean of the UCAM Bachelor’s Degrees in Preprimary and Primary Education, summarises the reason for the event held today at Los Jerónimos Campus to remember the figure of Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the great geniuses of music. Next 16 December will be the 250th anniversary of his birth.
The aim of the event was to promote the teaching and learning of music with a clear commitment to aesthetic value, with a wide variety of activities such as a series of conferences given by music experts from different universities and music conservatories, as well as performances such as that by Julián García de Alcaraz Caicedo who played some of the German musician’s works on the piano.
There was also a performance by the Dance Company and the Bachelor’s Degree in Dance of UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia and the Murcia Conservatoire of Music.
