UCAM Cartagena hosts the 7th D'Genes conference on humanisation and research in rare diseases
The role of precision medicine, coordination between primary and specialised health care in pharmacological treatments, and advances in patients with multiple myeloma will be analysed tomorrow, Friday.
Juan Carrión, president of the Rare Diseases Association D'Genes and Juan
José Pedreño, Regional Minister of Health of the Autonomous Community,
will inaugurate the 'VII Worker of Humanisation and Research in Rare
Diseases’ tomorrow, Friday 25 November at 10am, in the auditorium of the
UCAM Campus in Cartagena. Access will be free until full capacity is
reached, except for students applying for credits, who must register in
advance.
The event will include a presentation by María Juliana Ballesta, from the
Instituto Murciano de Investigación Biosanitaria and associate professor at
UCAM, who will report on the progress of the IMPACT-GENÓMICA
project, which promotes a cooperative infrastructure for highly complex
genetic studies based on research technologies. This infrastructure would
equitably accelerate the transfer of R&D and would improve efficiency in the
use of the resources of the National Health System.
María Jesús Rodríguez, secretary of the region's Official Association of
Pharmacists, will speak on ‘Coordination between Primary and Specialised
Healt Care in Pharmacological Treatments’, while María Dolores García,
PhD in Medicine and associate professor at UCAM, will speak on advances in
patients with multiple melanoma.
New care centre for people with rare diseases in Cartagena
In addition, José Javier Martínez Garcerán, Neurology specialist at the
Hospital Santa Lucía, will explain the challenges in diagnosis and treatment of
pulmonary hypertension. The morning will also see the presentation of
the ‘Pequeñas caricias’ (Little caresses) project of the Neonatal Unit of the
Santa Lucía Hospital.
During the event, the new ‘Leire González Diaz’ Comprehensive Care
Centre for People with Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases, will be presented.
This centre will opened soon in the Urbanización Nueva Cartagena.
