The UCAM 2025 Science Olympiads highlight youth talent in the Region of Murcia
Over 300 Baccalaureate and Vocational Training students from Murcia take part in tests to showcase their academic excellence
The UCAM Los Jerónimos Campus and the UCAM Los Dolores Campus in Cartagena hosted the UCAM 2025 Scientific Olympiads, an event co-funded by the Seneca Foundation which brought together over 300 students from the Baccalaureate and Higher Vocational Training courses from the Region of Murcia. The aim of this event is to encourage scientific vocations and reward academic excellence.
This year, the Olympiads offered the opportunity to compete in thirteen categories: Sports, Nursing, Nutrition, Gastronomy, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, Building Engineering, Architecture, Communication and Tourism. In each of them, the students have tested their knowledge and, at the same time, demonstrated their skills linked to the degree they wish to study in their next education stage: university.
The winners in each discipline will receive a 100 % discount on the first year of the degree related to the category in which they are participating, while the second and third place winners will receive discounts of 60 % and 40 % respectively, as well as technological gifts in all cases.
‘As every year, by organising the Science Olympiads we seek to awaken curiosity and critical thinking in high school students. We aim to bring them closer to the university world and motivate them to explore new scientific fields, as well as encourage effort and healthy competition as tools for their professional development,’ said Estrella Núñez, UCAM vice-rector of Research.
