Twenty-seven medals in Paralympic Games shine as of today in Teresa Perales' legendary collection after winning silver in the 50 back S5 final at Tokyo 2020. The UCAM swimmer, who has overcome major physical problems this season, has performed a spectacular 50 back, achieving her personal best to climb onto the second step of the podium. There was little more she could have done because the Chinese Lu Dong, who was at a completely different level and even broke the world record with a time of 37.18, was on the top step.

In the fight for second place, Perales withstood the pressure of Turkey's Sevilay Ozturk until the bitter end and won by just half a second, with a time of 43.02. With this silver medal, Perales reaches the incredible record of 27 Paralympic medals won in six Games, since Sydney 2000
