This week UCAM celebrates the III Employment and Training Week, an initiative that aims to provide students with essential tools and knowledge to successfully face their professional future. Throughout the week, the campuses of Murcia and Cartagena will host faculty-specific sessions, focusing on employability, specialised training and entrepreneurship.

The first sessions, held on Monday 31 March and Tuesday 1 April, included workshops and round tables on the use of new technologies in recruitment processes, as well as offering practical tips on how to create a competitive CV and using digital tools in the job hunt. In addition, specific activities were developed for the faculties of EducationLawMedicine and Psychology, along with a workshop focusing on artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship.

María Dolores Saravia, coordinator of the UCAM Career Guidance and Information Service (SOIL)underlined the importance of this event: ‘For the third year in a row, we are organising this event to bring all our students closer to the opportunities offered by the university in terms of employment and training. We want them to learn about the new recruiting techniques used by companies and to prepare them to land that much-desired first job.’

In addition, the event focuses on lifelong learning as a way of accessing better job opportunities. ‘It is imperative that our students specialise in areas that are in demand in today's market. For this reason, each faculty will offer all the training resources it has at its disposal during these days,’ added Saravia.

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition inaugurated the series of conferences with one dedicated to postgraduate training options in this area, focusing on master's degrees such as Clinical NutritionPhysical Activity and Health, and Food Safety.

José María Cayuela, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, said that ‘it is essential that they have an open mind, as the degree does not end when they graduate, but continues with more specific and updated training’.

The week's programme includes workshops, seminars and round tables with experts and alumni, who will share their experience and advice with attendees. Highlights of the coming days include:

  • Wednesday 2 April: ‘Express CV’ activity with personalised advice for the preparation of CVs, and conferences of the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Sport.
  • Thursday 3 April: Sessions dedicated to the faculties of PhysiotherapyPodiatry and Occupational TherapySocial and Communication Sciences, and Nursing.

The III Employment and Training Week is especially aimed at final-year students, although it is also open to all those interested in finding out about the many academic and professional possibilities available to them on completing their university studies.
