Pilgrimage to Vera Cruz and Eucharist for the soul of José Luis Mendoza
More than 200 UCAM members made the pilgrimage from Cehegín to Caravaca to attend the mass for the soul of the UCAM founder
Students and employees of UCAM, accompanied by their families, have lived a day of fraternity and pilgrimage that has culminated in the Basilica de la Vera Cruz, where a mass for the soul of the founder of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza Pérez, organised by the Real e Ilustre Cofradía de la Santísima y Vera Cruz, has been officiated. More than 200 people took part in this activity, which is organised annually by the Chaplaincy Service of the University. This year it was dedicated to the man who was president of the University for 25 years.
His wife, María Dolores García, president of UCAM, led the members of the academic community, who were accompanied by members of the Cofradía de la Vera Cruz, with its Hermano Mayor, Luis Melgarejo, and by José Francisco García, mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The day began at the Los Jerónimos Campus. From there, three buses travelled to Cehegín where the pilgrims began a 7.5 kilometre walk to reach the basilica of Caravaca where the mass was celebrated.
