More than 200 researchers take part in the IX UCAM Doctoral Days
Organised by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research under the slogan ‘The social impact of science’, the event has included 131 presentations of scientific papers and the granting of the ‘My Thesis in 3 minutes’ awards.
The UCAM Vice-Rector's Office for Research, via the International Doctoral School, has held the IX Doctoral Days under the slogan ‘Social Impact of Science’. The event was attended by 220 researchers, who presented 131 scientific papers, with topics distributed among the four doctoral programmes of the University: Health Sciences, Computer Technology and Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences and Sports Sciences.
This year the theme chosen was ‘The social impact of science’, given that ‘UCAM is distinguished, in accordance with the criteria of its founder, José Luis Mendoza, for providing a service to society, so that the research carried out here is focused on finding solutions to real problems,’ said Estrella Núñez Delicado, UCAM Vice-Rector of Research.
This event, which focused on highlighting the value of the doctoral degree and exchanging scientific results between doctoral students and senior researchers, was attended by Juan Arturo Rubio Aróstegui, Director of the Doctoral School of the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, who has focused his studies on the transfer of knowledge in the performing arts, visual arts and museums, and on implementing cultural promotion policies in public administrations, such as the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
After the lecture and the presentation of the papers, awards were given to the best scientific papers of the conference and to the four finalists of ‘My Thesis in 3 minutes’, a competition developed by UCAM between the months of May and June. The prizes went to Iván López González (first classified), Cindy Bande de León (second), Javier Stelling Férez (third) and Cecilia Akemi Ponce Sakuray (fourth).
