The event was attended by institutional authorities from Murcia; the Director General of Universities, Antonio Caballero Pérez; representatives from UCAM; the micampus residences team; and the Clavel Arquitectos studio, responsible for the architectural project.

The ceremony was led by Lourdes Lorca, Director of micampus Murcia, who stressed: ‘Today we reach a new milestone with the inauguration of micampus Murcia, our first residence in this city and also affiliated with UCAM in Murcia. And we do so with a very clear objective: to offer much more than just accommodation.’

María Dolores García Mascarell, UCAM President, President of Fundación Universitaria San Antonio and President of the Alma Mater Foundation, then took the floor and said: ‘This academic year, we are going to exceed last year's figures with around 3,000 international students from 139 countries, as well as students from other autonomous communities who come to study with us. This residence provides an environment where students will feel at home, surrounded by beauty and enjoying facilities that add value to the Region of Murcia.’

José Ballesta, Mayor of Murcia, closed the institutional speeches saying: ‘Today we are taking another step towards building the city of Murcia we want, a vibrant, young, open, dynamic city, full of energy and enthusiasm, open to everyone. With the opening of micampus Murcia, our city confirms its role as the university capital of the entire Spanish Levante region, where knowledge and the training of young people are the driving force for the future, because higher education has become a key issue for the public interest.’

The ceremony included the blessing of the residence by Luis Emilio Pascual, UCAM Chaplain.

Luis Clavel Sainz, founding partner of Clavel Arquitectos y Asociados, also took the floor to explain how the project came about, highlighting the innovative and creative vision that has made it possible to design a unique, functional and inspiring space, conceived to enhance the students' university experience.

One of the most symbolic moments of the event was the cutting of the red ribbon by the authorities, in which Sebastián Oviedo, CEO of micampus residencias; María Dolores García Mascarell; and José Ballesta participated, thus officially inaugurating the residence.

The day concluded with a guided tour of the residence facilities, during which attendees were able to see first-hand some of its main spaces: the study rooms, the dining room, the gym, the swimming pool, the chapel and the bedrooms. The event ended with the micampus team presenting guests with a gift.
