The ‘International Sport Forum’ gives for the first time its awards to the best physical trainers
Roberto Sassi (Juventus) was awarded for his professional path and Lorenzo Buenaventura for his season in Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
The Wanda Metropolitano Stadium (Madrid) hosts the gathering, today and tomorrow, of experts from all over the world in physical training, nutrition and sport performance in the ‘International Sport Forum’. The Strength and Conditioning Society, the European Sport Nutrition Society and UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia organised this event that is held for the first time in Spain and that gave for the first time international awards to the best physical trainers.
For the best professional path category, the award went to Roberto Sassi, in charge of the performance area of Juventus of Turin, who worked in clubs such as Atlético de Madrid, Valencia, Fiorentina, Chelsea or Sampdoria among others. As best physical trainer of 2019, the winner was Lorenzo Buenaventura (Manchester City), who was nominated together with Antonio Gómez, from Murcia (FC Barcelona) and Julien Robineau (French rugby 7s team).
The inauguration of the event saw the participation of Pedro Emilio Alcaraz, UCAM researcher and president of SCS, José María Villalón, head of the Medical Department of Atlético de Madrid, and Antonio Paoli, president of the European Sport Nutrition Society, who highlighted the importance of this global meeting to share the new advances in top-level sport training and to give value to all the professionals who, from different areas, contribute to improve athletes performance: trainers, therapists, psychologists, nutritionists, physiologists, etc.
During these days, researchers, experts and professionals from more than 40 countries such as Francesc Cos, director of Performance of New York City, in Major League Soccer, Julio Calleja (Universidad del País Vasco), Mikel Izquierdo (Universidad Pública de Navarra), Stuart Phillips (MacMaster University, Canada) or Mireia Porta and Mª Antonia Lizarraga, nutritionists of FC Barcelona, are in the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, which has become the world capital of physical training, nutrition and sport performance.
