UCAMPACITAS floods the Campus with inclusion on Disability Day
Workshops, adapted sports and charity markets were the main features of the event in Los Jerónimos
Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia has commemorated this week the International Day of Disability with a series of activities designed to promote the social and occupational inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. This day, promoted by the students and teaching staff of the UCAMPACITAS programme, filled the Los Jerónimos Campus with participation and awareness.
'Nothing about us without us' was the main slogan of the day, a phrase that represents the global movement for the rights of people with disabilities and highlights the importance of active participation in the decisions that affect their lives. This message was the central focus of the activities organised, aimed at raising awareness of the capabilities of this group and of inclusion among the academic community.
Among the main activities, attendees were able to enjoy a charity market, where they sold poinsettias, handicrafts and other products made by UCAMPACITAS students. There were also practical workshops, adapted sports activities such as wheelchair basketball, inclusive chess and an interactive poster in which the academic community contributed with phrases and drawings related to inclusion.
The event also featured an exhibition of posters that gathered reflections and proposals from the students of the programme and sought to raise awareness of the need to advance educational and social inclusion.
This celebration reaffirms the commitment of UCAM to the creation of a fairer and more equitable society, where diversity is recognised as an essential value. The UCAMPACITAS programme, an example of this commitment, continues to consolidate itself as an innovative initiative for the comprehensive training and skills development of people with intellectual disabilities.
