Around 50 students, mostly Italian and French, have begun their Spanish classes at UCAM.

They are the first to begin their classes, and very soon we will see them walking around Murcia, getting to know their new city, discovering Spanish culture and cuisine, and immersing themselves in what will be their new home for at least the next four years. A group of around fifty students, mainly Italian and French, began the Summer Program 2025 today at UCAM, an intensive Spanish course that will help them get off to a good start in their studies of Physiotherapy, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy, among others. Over the coming weeks, more than 3,000 international students will be joining them at UCAM.

The welcome ceremony took place in the Assembly Hall of the Los Jerónimos Monastery, the university's main building, and was attended by around fifty students. Pablo Blesa, UCAM Vice-Rector of International Relations and Communication, together with the UCAM Language School team, welcomed the new students, highlighting the value of their decision to study in a multicultural and academically demanding environment.

‘We want them to fit in, to make sure they connect to local students and not remain in closed cultural environments; that is the beauty of studying at a university as international as ours,’ said Pablo Blesa, encouraging students to make the most of this experience.

The intensive course, which will run for two weeks, aims to reinforce and perfect the students' knowledge of Spanish before they join their respective programmes, which include Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Physiotherapy. Blesa emphasised that in some degree programmes, such as Physiotherapy, international students already represent 50% of new enrolments, which highlights the appeal of UCAM beyond our borders.

The language immersion programme is run by a teaching team with extensive experience and recognition from students, and is part of a broader strategy by UCAM to promote internationalisation and academic excellence from the start of the academic year.
