UCAM welcomes a new group of international exchange students
People from countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America join the academic and cultural life of UCAM
UCAM celebrated a welcome ceremony for the international students who are joining during this second term as part of its exchange programme today, Wednesday. Originating from countries ranging from Italy, France, the Netherlands, Turkey, Mexico, Ecuador, Bangladesh and Equatorial Guinea, these young people will live an academic and personal experience that will mark a before and after in their academic careers.
With this new incorporation, UCAM continues to consolidate its international profile. The institution currently has students of 139 nationalities, who speak over 60 different languages, making it a genuine melting pot.
In the words of Pablo Blesa, UCAM vice-rector of International Relations and Communication, ‘we are very happy to see how easily the incoming students integrate into our community. Many of them not only study here, but also end up developing their professional careers in the Region of Murcia, forming families and fully identifying with our region’.
The vice-rector also highlighted the appeal of UCAM for foreign students, underlining that ‘these young people, who come from partner universities spread across the five continents, become true ambassadors of their home institutions and, at the same time, motivate our students to open up to the world and consider international stays’.
This academic year, UCAM has welcomed a total of 360 mobility programme students. Some of them have already expressed their wish to stay longer than the planned period, attracted by the Murcian lifestyle, the quality of education at the University and the family atmosphere offered by the Campus. ‘We are proud that they find a welcoming place here, that they feel the warmth and hospitality of our society and, above all, that they value the academic training we offer them,’ said Pablo Blesa.
