‘Welcome to your University; to the great UCAM family. Welcome home.’ These were the warm words addressed by María Mendoza, Head of the UCAM-COE Campus in Torrejón de Ardoz to the students attending the event. They are the first students to commence classes in a historic academic year. The project UCAM has worked towards with passion and commitment in the capital for years, strengthened by its strategic partnership with the Spanish Olympic Committee, now becomes a reality.

Josefina García, Rector of UCAM, highlighted the spirit of service with which this new chapter begins for the students: ‘you are now part of the more than 23,000 students studying at UCAM’. She also paid an emotional tribute to the founder, José Luis Mendoza, who ‘even gave his own life for this institution, founding the University solely out of love’.

During the event, Manuel Carlos Ruiz, Vice-Rector of Quality and Academic Planning; Antonio Alcaraz, Vice-Rector of University Outreach; and José Alarcón, UCAM Secretary General, also addressed the students. They highlighted the different cornerstones on which UCAM is built and everything the institution offers its academic community, as it has demonstrated throughout its 30-year history, an anniversary being celebrated in this 2026-27 academic year.

Following the official welcome event, the students were received by the academic staff responsible for their programmes in the facilities dedicated to their degrees, for which enrolment is still open. The day concluded with a programme of recreational activities, bringing an unforgettable occasion filled with gratitude and excitement for this new beginning to a close.

With more than 11,500 m² across two buildings and an investment of over €20 million, the Campus features laboratories, simulation rooms, specialist classrooms and spaces designed for highly practical training. All of this reflects the educational model that sets UCAM apart: small class sizes, personalised attention, a high number of practical training hours and continuous contact with the professional world from the first years of study.
