UCAM to Welcome Pope Leo XIV
To mark the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain, UCAM is preparing a wide-scale pilgrimage of students, staff, and families who will travel to Madrid to accompany the Holy Father during the events scheduled in the capital. The University is currently in the registration phase for this major event, which aims to bring together the entire university community.
According to official announcements this week from the Holy See and the Spanish Episcopal Conference, the capital will host various encounters from June 6 to 9. The central events will be a youth vigil on Saturday, June 6, at the central Plaza de Lima and a Holy Mass at Plaza Cibeles on Sunday, June 7, followed by a procession through the surrounding streets to mark the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. UCAM will also participate in the meeting 'Weaving Networks with the World of Culture, Art, Economics, and Sports' with His Holiness on Sunday afternoon.

The Catholic University will stand alongside the Successor of Peter during this historic visit, which will be held under the motto "Lift up your eyes", taken from the Gospel of St. John. In addition to the main events with the Holy Father, UCAM will hold a prayer vigil on the night of Friday, June 5, at its Madrid Campus in Torrejón de Ardoz, serving as the official kickoff for its participation in this historic occasion.
UCAM maintains a close relationship of loyalty and communion with the Papacy, from St. John Paul II to the current Pope Leo XIV. María Dolores García, President of the University, has already met with His Holiness in Rome within the framework of the Jubilee Year of Hope.
