Universidad Católica de Murcia and the Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles (ONCE, Spanish National Organisation of the Blind) have signed an educational cooperation agreement that will facilitate academic internships for students of the UCAM Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology in the ONCE's facilities in the Region of Murcia. The agreement, signed at the Los Jerónimos Campus, reinforces the commitment of both entities to the comprehensive training and professional development of students.

Bringing students closer to all realities

María Dolores García, UCAM President, and Juan Carlos Morejón de Girón, Regional Delegate of ONCE in Murcia, have signed the agreement, highlighting the importance of bringing university education closer to the social and labour reality. With this alliance, UCAM reinforces its commitment to the employability of its students and the development of a more inclusive society. Also present at the event on behalf of the University were Ana Isabel López, Vice-Dean of the Degree in Psychology; Manuel Carlos Ruiz, Vice-Rector's of Quality and Academic Planning; María Dolores Saravia, Coordinator of the Career Guidance and Information Service, and María Luisa López, from the department in charge of curricular adaptations, and on behalf of ONCE, Nuria Vidal, Head of the Department of Social Services of the Regional Delegation in Murcia.

Both institutions have worked closely together for years, which is reflected in UCAMPACITAS, a university training programme in academic, personal, social and professional skills aimed at the socio-labour inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, which is co-financed by the ONCE Foundation in collaboration with the European Social Fund (ESF). This was born in 2012, being the first university project in the Region of Murcia, and one of the first at national and international level in this area.
