UCAM promotes the ‘Silk Road Physical Education Alliance’
Together with UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia, the other partners of this alliance are Xi'an Physical Education University (China), Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences (Japan), Korea National Sport University (South Korea) and Borussia Dortmund Club (Germany).
Remembering the ancient ‘Silk Road’ that, since the 1st century, commercially united Europe and Asia, with China’s silk as the main enticement, various Eastern and Western universities recovered this spirit of cultural exchange and brought it to the field of physical education. UCAM participated in the creation of the ‘Silk Road Physical Education Alliance’.
The agreement was signed in Xi'an between universities and institutions that give vital importance to the academic part of sport: Xi'an Physical Education University (China), Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences (Japan), Korea National Sport University (South Korea), Borussia Dortmund (Germany) and UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia.
This agreement lays the foundation for a system of exchange of competitions and sports activities between the different members of the alliance to improve the level of physical education. Furthermore, exchange programmes of students, teachers and researchers in the field of sport will be developed.
Before the signing of the agreement, a multidisciplinary Conference took place, with the intervention of representatives of all the participating institutions. The dean of the Faculty of Sport, Antonio Sánchez Pato, and the sub-director of the same, Alejandro Leiva Arcas, gave a speech entitled: ‘Past, present and future of the Spanish Olympic movement’, framed within one of the current research areas of the Olympic Study Center of UCAM.
