UCAM presents its Alumni service with over 1.600 registered
This initiative held an opening meeting on the Los Jerónimos Campus this week to recall memories and strengthen its professional network
Two years ago an emotional meeting with the ‘founding students’ of the University was held for the 25th anniversary of UCAM. This meeting was the precursor to the birth of the UCAM Alumni service, which was presented on 30th of January in the Los Jerónimos monastery. This event, which was filled with emotion, brought together many graduates from the university institution. The creation of this service was announced just a few weeks ago, and more than 1.600 former students have already signed up for this initiative, whose aim is to strengthen the bonds between the University and those who have been part of it throughout the years.
The Dean, Josefina Garcia and José Luis Mendoza García, UCAM Director of the Institutional Relations took part in the meeting, which was led by the journalist Fran Sáez, former UCAM student of the Degree in Journalism. In her intervention, Dean García highlighted that ‘the legacy of our founder (José Luis Mendoza Pérez) has a reason, and it is that this institution appeared for the enormous love that he had for young people.’ Afterwards, José Luis Mendoza made a call to the Alumni community emphasising the importance of keeping the principles and experiences achieved in the University alive: ‘We must return, reconnect and recall all those moments that changed us once, and that we can now project into the future.’
During the meeting a round table was held, chaired by Fran Sáez, in which three Alumni who have reached success in their respective fields took part: Anabel Hernández, founder of ‘Mira qué plan’. Lucía Aguado, CEO of Saiyan Workout. And Pablo Franco, CEO of Embargos a lo Bestia. The speakers highlighted the importance of the lifelong training, the value of their networks created at UCAM and the feeling of being part of a community that keeps accompanying them in their professional development.
The head of UCAM Alumni, Sarah Folio, presented s some advantages of this community, such as the access to resources such as the Orientation and Labour Insertion Service, training at UCAM HiTech, gym discounts and University clubs, etc. to the participants.
The meeting ended with a networking session in the cloister of the monastery, where the participants could meet up with old classmates, share memories and make new personal and professional connections.
