The Association of Radio and Television Professionals of the Region of
Murcia held the 36th Antenas y Micrófonos de Plata Awards Ceremony,
where the University Platform for Peace of the UCAM was rewarded for its
aid to the victims and refugees of the war in Ukraine.
With this award, ARTV Murcia recognises the work carried out by
the Universidad Católica de Murcia, which set up this platform in the
wake of this particular war , but with the aim to help those affected by any
war in the world.
María Mendoza, Coordinator of the initiative and member of the expedition
that travelled to Poland to deliver humanitarian aid and materials to the
refugees, thanked ARTV Murcia for the award: ‘This is a push to continue
helping anyone who needs us. UCAM will be there. This is something my
father, the President of the university, has always said. We are here to serve.
He who gives, receives, and we have experienced this’. She also paid an
emotional tribute to Monsignor Javier Azagra, ‘who passed away eight years
ago today and is undoubtedly looking down on all of us Murcians from
heaven. He was an essential pillar for the University’.
She was accompanied by members of the University and the Platform, among
them, some Ukrainians who live in Murcia and who are an active part of
UCAM's solidarity initiatives.
