UCAM leads the Healthpreneurs consortium to boost health entrepreneurship in Europe
The project, which has a budget of €1.34 million, has been selected as part of the fourth cohort of the Higher Education Institutions initiative, promoted by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology
The Universidad Católica de Murcia (UCAM) has been selected as the coordinating entity of the European HEALTHPRENEURS project, within the framework of the fourth cohort of the EIT HEI (Higher Education Institutions) initiative, promoted by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). This distinction reinforces the university's commitment to innovation and the development of entrepreneurial talent in the field of health.
With a total funding of 1.34 million euros from the European Union, the HEALTHPRENEURS consortium brings together universities and strategic partners from six countries, including Spain, Italy, Albania, Scotland, England and Portugal, with the participation of institutions such as the universities of Navarra, Santiago de Compostela, Strathclyde (Scotland), San Raffaele (Italy), the Sport University of Tirana (Albania), and partners such as Cambridge Biocapital (United Kingdom) and Católica- Luz Clinical Academic Centre (Portugal).
The main objective of HEALTHPRENEURS is to strengthen institutional capacities in entrepreneurship and innovation within the university ecosystem, with a specific focus on the sectors of health, medical technologies, nutrition and sports. Through this project, training programmes, digital incubation platforms, startup acceleration activities and collaboration mechanisms with industry will be implemented.
During its implementation, HEALTHPRENEURS plans to train in health entrepreneurship, support start-ups in the sector and establish new structures to support entrepreneurship.
This project is part of a broader European strategy to integrate higher education institutions into innovation ecosystems, as set out in the EIT HEI Initiative.
