UCAM joins Leo XIV at the historic youth vigil in Madrid
Over 200 UCAM pilgrims, including students, teaching staff, administrative and service staff, as well as family members, took part in the youth vigil with Pope Leo XIV in Plaza de Lima, one of the central events of his visit to Madrid. During his journey to the Vigilia, the Holy Father, as he passed through the area where the UCAM delegation was gathered, blessed a baby of just a few months old who was with his parents in the university delegation, in one of the most moving moments for the pilgrims.
The Universidad Católica group arrived at this gathering after the International Prayer Vigil for Peace yesterday, at the UCAM Campus in Torrejón de Ardoz, a celebration that brought together the academic community and the faithful of the city as spiritual preparation for this weekend with the Holy Father.
During the day, the pilgrims travelled from Torrejón to the area around Plaza de Lima (Madrid) to join the festive gathering with thousands of young people. The UCAM delegation listened to the Pope’s words, in which he invited young people to ‘share your spiritual journey by bearing witness through a coherent life’. The night was full of prayer, fellowship and a sense of family among the UCAM pilgrims, who experienced it through faith, listening and communion with the Holy Father.
