The UCAM-COE Campus in Madrid hosts its first university exams

It has been used as an examination centre for nearly 200 online students enrolled in nine undergraduate degrees and three master’s programmes in the fields of education, business, law, psychology, food science and engineering, who sat their assessments at UCAM’s new campus in Torrejón.

This weekend marked the beginning of academic activity on the UCAM campus in Torrejón de Ardoz, with the first on-site tests for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Nearly 200 students from different regions of Spain, mainly from Madrid, but also from other regions such as Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León, have come to the UCAM facilities, inaugurated last month to sit their exams in the online programmes offered by the University. Students from Italy have also come to the capital.

The tests brought together students from nine different degree programmes: Business Administration and Management, Marketing, Law, Psychology, Food Science and Technology, Computer Engineering, Primary Education, Early Childhood Education, and the Adaptation Course to the Degree in Primary and Early Childhood Education. Students from three Master's programmes were also examined: General Health Psychology, Access to the Legal Profession, and Training for Teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language.

From next September onwards, the Madrid Campus will start classes with the introduction of the degrees in Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nursing, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Food Science and Technology.

Belén López Ayuso, vice-rector of Virtual Education, said that ‘we are very happy and excited because this is the first academic activity on the Torrejón Campus, on which the University has worked with great enthusiasm and effort. We already had examination centres all over Spain as well as abroad, and having our own in the Spanish capital helps us to promote all online studies’. With regard to the implementation of new programmes as of September, she said that ‘the first degrees will be in the field of healthcare, but we are working on more degrees in other fields as well’.

The UCAM Campus in Torrejón de Ardoz, located at Avenida Constitución, 190, has more than 11,500 m², with a large green area in which two modern buildings are located, with specialised classrooms, laboratories, study rooms, assembly hall, chapel, cafeteria and spaces for coexistence, work and resting. Last December the campus was officially inaugurated by the presidents of the Community of Madrid and UCAM and of COE, accompanied by the main authorities of the University and representatives of the educational and social spheres.

From next September onwards, the Madrid Campus will start classes with the introduction of the degrees in Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nursing, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Food Science and Technology. (Request information)
