UCAM chairs the Scientific Committee of the Archena International Thermalism Conference
The event brings together leading experts in the fields of medicine, physiotherapy, nutrition, tourism and business
The Balneario de Archena has hosted the inauguration of the International Congress of Thermalism, which is being held on 21st of November and on 22nd of November at its facilities, in which leading experts will address how various disciplines such as medicine, physiotherapy, nutrition and tourism and business managementare applied to thermalism in an interdisciplinary way.
The opening ceremony was attended by María Dolores García, UCAM President, together with Fernando López Miras, President of the Autonomous Region of Murcia; Patricia Fernández, Mayor of Archena; Carmen Conesa, Regional Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Dr. Pedro Guillén. Among the more than 300 attendees there was a large group of students from various UCAM degrees.
In her speech, María Dolores García highlighted UCAM’s commitment to the dissemination of science, assuring that ‘with this type of gatherings, we not only boost tourism, but there is also a lot of science behind its organisation, which is of great interest to students, professionals in the sector and to society as a whole’, for which she congratulated the Archena Town Council and the Balneario for its organisation.
UCAM, through its International Chair of Medical Hydrology and Hydrotherapy, has been collaborating with the Balneario de Archena for more than a decade on issues related to thermalism and hydrotherapy. This link has allowed the UCAM students of the Degree in Physiotherapy to carry out internships in this centre.
