A new academic year starts, and so does a new season full of hopes. The season begins the day after the end of the previous one. It is a period of preparation, incorporations, medical check-ups, pre-season, and it is now the moment of truth. The football team that plays in the 2nd B division, UCAM Murcia CF, with an almost total renewal and almost no pre-season, faces a year with a team of great magnitude but with the hope of being in the reference positions at the end of the season, always supported by a great reserve team in the 3rd division and a newly promoted Junior team in the honour category of the national football, consisting of an important number of students who look forward, like all athletes of our university, to their dual objective, sports and academic one, and to make the most out of the opportunity they have.

The UCAM Murcia CB, which plays in the Endesa League (ABC), after the success of the national team that has turned Spain into the place of reference for world basketball, is ready to start the league the last weekend of September with a strengthened squad and with the hope that our team becomes again a strong rival difficult to win and able to make the whole Sports Palace vibrate every weekend with the hundreds of children who play in it and, in certain cases, who are part of national teams and with a team in EBA League that will be present so that this reserve continues to grow and, since they are students, make us become again Spanish university champions (men and women category), just as the previous academic year.

The UCAM Cartagena Table Tennis, maintaining its composition, and the canoeing club in Olympic year will bring us great joy after obtaining the international qualifications last season. In the same way, the sponsored teams start their competitions. More than 6,000 athletes will carry our shield in the Region of Murcia, in Spain and all over the world.

Once again, the University of Sports begins with all its strength, with all this hope that makes us dream and achieve increasingly higher goals, with the aim of being for the ninth consecutive year at the forefront of the national medal standing and of becoming, in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the university with more students participating in it in the world, as it happened in Rio 2016. Fighting the elements and making the impossible become possible is part of the DNA of our institution. At the forefront, Mr José Luis Mendoza manages to make dreams come true, but always with struggle and at the same time achieving a more hopeful future with the academic support provided by the University of Sports.

Throughout the year there will be many competitions, team leagues (football, basketball, indoor football, handball, volleyball...), races, canoeing, chess, table tennis and everything that is sufficiently demanded to add a sporting touch to your training and to enjoy sport with the proposals offered by the UCAM.

A new year begins, and so does a new season. You cannot miss it!
