The online PhD Conference of UCAM gathers 300 researchers from 21 universities
The doctoral students, from Spanish and foreign universities, defended their studies in the fields of Health Sciences, Computer Technologies and Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences and Sports Sciences.
The online PhD Conference of UCAM which took place today, Friday, and was organised by the Vice-chancellorship for Research and the International Doctoral School of UCAM, has far surpassed the number of participants as compared to previous editions. Almost half of the doctoral students came from other Spanish and foreign universities. In total, 245 scientific communications were presented, among which 118 were presented orally and 127 were presented as posters.
Scientific exchange
The main objective of this event is the scientific exchange between the doctoral students themselves and the researchers who direct their doctoral theses. Furthermore, they are useful as a tool to assess the progress of the research plans of the doctoral students.
The branches of knowledge included in this Conference are the ones that derive from the doctoral programmes of the International Doctoral School of UCAM: Health Sciences, Computer Technologies and Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences and Sports Sciences.
During the inaugural conference, Dr. Gabaldón, tenured teacher of UCAM, spoke about the advantages and inconveniences of the methods for the detection of the SARS-COV2 virus, which causes the COVID 19 disease.
Doctors training
Estrella Núñez, vice-chancellor for Research of UCAM stated that “the conference took place with absolute normality, thanks to the online methodologies with which the University works. In record time a completely face-to-face organisation was transformed into an online one”. The vice-chancellor highlighted as well that “the training of doctors becomes a key element since society seeks the work of researchers in order to solve the current health crisis”.
During the closing ceremony, prizes were awarded to the best scientific communications of each field of knowledge.
