The dual career model developed by the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) and the Spanish Olympic Committee keeps receiving a lot of attention from the academic and the sports word at an international level. Two of the published books on this model have been included in the Olympic World Library. Furthermore, one of them contains a prologue by the President of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, and by the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco.

Both books are the result of the impact of this educative model promoted by the European Union, called ‘ESTPORT’, for its implementation in other European universities. This UCAM-COE model, which allows the university training with tutoring and adapted to top athletes, furthermore, was presented in the European Parliament and awarded in Lausanne (Switzerland) by the ‘European Athletics’. The books were developed by the Research Group ARETÉ: ‘Physical Education, Sport and Performance’, of the Faculty of Sports of the UCAM, whose main researcher is Antonio Sánchez Pato, dean of the Faculty itself.

In order to extend this proposal, another European project, ‘More than Gold’, has been launched, in which the UCAM participates as well. The project aims at adapting the Obligatory Secondary Education to the dual career with athletes.
