The BeSoccer La Condomina Stadium was filled with colour, languages and flags from the five continents on a day that marked the start of the academic year for new international students at UCAM. Originating from more than ninety countries, the thousand students experienced a meeting of integration and coexistence that reflects the dynamism and global vocation of UCAm.

The UCAM president, María Dolores García, welcomed them, highlighting the excitement of receiving young people whose families place their trsut in la Universidad Católica for the higher education of their children: ‘It is a great asset for the University to have so many nationalities and a great opportunity for you, who live with classmates from all continents in an atmosphere of learning and fraternity’.

The institution thus consolidates its position as a global university, with an international community of 5,990 students of 135 nationalities. In the words of Pablo Blesa, UCAM's Vice-Rector of International Relations and Communication, ‘this confirms the enormous growth in the internationalisation of the University, which today welcomes young people from all over the world to train in an academic and human environment marked by hospitality and excellence’. José Sánchez, Episcopal Vicar of Murcia, welcomed the international students on behalf of José Manuel Lorca, Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena.

Among the guests was MotoGP rider and UCAM athlete, Pedro Acosta, who encouraged the new students to make the most of this stage: ‘Enjoy university life and the Region of Murcia; it is a unique experience that will make you grow’.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by a large number of UCAM executives, symbolising the cosmopolitan spirit of the institution, which has fifteen international offices on four continents - recently expanded with new offices in the United States, Nigeria and the Philippines -, two Spanish Schools, in Dubai and Alexandria, and strategic projects such as the International Football Academy in Philadelphia.

The University also maintains a firm commitment to academic mobility, with more than 1,100 international exchanges managed in the last academic year, and educational alliances with institutions and companies all over the world. All of this reinforces its global and multicultural training model, based on academic cooperation, excellence and external projection.

Closing of the University Welcome 2025

After the meeting at La Condomina, the international students joined the rest of their classmates at the Los Jerónimos Campus, where they took part in two of the most eagerly awaited activities: the University Mile and the traditional UCAM Paella, which put the finishing touch to two days of university welcome full of energy, socialising and UCAM spirit.
