'A Match for Life': UCAM community unites for blood and bone marrow
The UCAM university community has once again demonstrated its commitment to solidarity by donating blood and registering as bone marrow donors. The event marked the II Regional Organ and Bone Marrow Donor Day and the "A Match for Life" (Un Match x una vida) initiative.
María Dolores García, President of UCAM, accompanied Dolores Hernández, Head of Service at the National Transplant Organization (ONT) and head of the National Bone Marrow Plan, and Ricardo Robles, Regional Transplant Coordinator, during their visit to the donation stations installed on campus, alongside academic representatives and officials from the Regional Hemodonation Center.
In the last campaign alone, more than 200 members of the university registered as new bone marrow donors. "This represents a very significant percentage of total donations", noted Ricardo Robles, who expressed his gratitude for the immense commitment shown by the entire UCAM community.
"Of the 520,000 donors in the national registry, more than 28,000 are from the Murcia region, and many more are expected today," said Dolores Hernández. She extended her congratulations to the entire region and added: "We are impressed with UCAM's involvement; they are recruiting new donors with an enthusiasm that serves as an example at a national level".
