Following the express wish and desire of the founder of the Universidad Católica San Antonio, His Excellency Mr José Luis Mendoza Pérez, after his demise, the Board of Trustees of the Fundación Universitaria San Antonio has unanimously agreed to appoint Her Excellency Ms María Dolores García Mascarell, who is co-founder and life member of said Board of Trustees, as President of the Fundación Universitaria San Antonio and of the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, as well as of the Alma Mater Foundation of Catholic Colleges. María Dolores García Mascarell, together with her husband and hitherto President, José Luis Mendoza Pérez, is co-founder of both foundations and, ever since, a member of their boards of trustees.

Ms María Dolores García Mascarell, who participated in the founding of the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, has extensive in-depth knowledge regarding the institution, participating in the most important decisions that have been taken in it since its creation.

Having been informed of the decision, Her Excellency the Rector, Ms Josefina García Lozano, has expressed that Ms María Dolores García Mascarell will have the full support and loyalty of the entire academic community in the performance of her duties.

Born in 1957 in Albatera (Alicante), María Dolores García Mascarell is the mother of 14 children, fruit of her marriage. Together with her family, in January 1991 she was sent on a mission to the Dominican Republic by His Holiness Pope Saint John Paul II, to work in areas of poverty and to collaborate in the creation of the Redemptoris Mater International Seminary in Santo Domingo. In 2007 she was awarded, along with her husband, the Distinction of the Order of St. Gregory the Great by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. And in 2012 she was invested Doctor Honoris Causa by the Redemptoris Mater Faculty of Theology in Lima (Peru), as was her husband.

We hope that the Holy Spirit will guide her with the same wisdom and faith that guided her husband, Mr José Luis Mendoza Pérez, to continue the enormous task undertaken by our former and very dear President, at the head of this great Work of God.
