The Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will go down in history for its unique setting. Breaking with tradition, this time the event did not take place in the Olympic Stadium but in the city itself, with the River Seine and the Eiffel Tower as the main protagonists welcoming the athletes from all over the world. The traditional parade of the nations was carried out with boats, which added a further dash of spectacle to the event.

Spain's boat was one of the most applauded in the parade. The unmistakable red and yellow colours stood out against the Seine, and the rain did not spoil the excitement of the special occasion. Marcus Cooper and Támara Echegoyen, both UCAM athletes, fulfilled their dream of leading the national team by being the flag bearers for Spain. A day that will go down in history of their successful sporting careers and another memorable experience for our University's sport.
