Íñigo Llopis swims towards gold
The UCAM athlete is proclaimed Paralympic swimming champion in a series that he completely dominated
Last Saturday, Iñigo Llopis took gold in the 100m backstroke S8. The UCAM athlete dominated from start to finish. After qualifying first in his category, the San Sebastian native arrived at the final feeling confident. He was aiming for the golden metal right from the start, which he managed to win.
With a time of 1:05.58, Llopis finished with some advantage over his immediate rivals, becoming Paralympic champion after having been world champion in 2023, also in the 100m backstroke S8, and after winning silver in Tokyo in the same category.
This is the first medal for the UCAM athletes who are participating in these Games, an achievement that is added to the diploma obtained by the swimmer Jacobo Garrido in the 400m freestyle S9.
